This federal credit
union had used service bureau data processing facilities for many
years. It has plans for rapid growth and desired to improve
reporting and member services functions, while controlling
processing costs. Management decided to have an independent review
of the various alternatives. It eventually accepted the advice of
Management Advisory Group to purchase an in-house minicomputer
system. The total cost of about $500,000 resulted in a payback in
less than 2 years compared to alternative methods but also
significantly enhanced service to members, financial reporting,
and internal controls.
